It is important to clarify the usage of the terms neurodivergent, neurodiverse, and neurodiversity, which usually refers to autism. There is no medical diagnosis for "normal," but there is a diagnosis for autism. High-functioning "Aspies" are seen throughout the tech world.

Neurodiversity can include other aberrations but normally points to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), formerly called Asperger's Syndrome. Silicon Valley is greatly and increasingly influenced by those who have ASD, forming an aberrant culture, unlike the rest of the world.

Can autistic individuals who are "neurodivergent" be good software developers? Sam Altman of OpenAI thinks so because he invested in a startup called Mentra to "match neurodivergent jobseekers with ideal jobs." It turns out that many tech leaders have Asperger's Syndrome, which is a type of Autism.
